MiX People: Jermain Joyeux

At MiX, we are so proud to work with great people who have delivered some brilliant projects. And as part of our series introducing some of our team, we are featuring one of our Infrastructure Consultants, Jermain Joyeux.

– What do you do at MiX?

As an IT Infrastructure Consultant, I provide expert guidance and support to organisations with the detailed design and implementation of structured cabling systems and supporting infrastructure within various building environments. This includes Cat A, Cat B, refurbishments and retro-fits.

– What has been your favourite career project?

My favourite career project to date was the 184,000 ft2 fitout of SMBC’s London HQ. I was involved in designing and implementing a cabling infrastructure solution across three floors in the 100 Liverpool Street development. I aimed to support the organisation’s expansion plans and enhance network connectivity which considered the organisation’s current and future requirements.

– What do you think are the industry’s key challenges or opportunities at the moment?

The key challenges are born out of the rapid pace of technological advancements and the need for individuals to stay up to date with the latest industry standards and emerging technologies. The most problematic area seems to be SMART buildings, as there are many options for defining SMART. This becomes an issue on projects as base build connectivity cabling and technology do not align with client requirements and expectations.

But as with all challenges, this brings opportunities. There is an increasing need for consultants and designers who can design and deliver reliable and efficient network infrastructure cabling systems. And at the same time, they can also manage and coordinate projects while interfacing with main contractors to help them understand what needs to be delivered.
